IND vs ZIM
India is facing Zimbabwe in the first ODI of the three-match ODI series on August 18 at the Harare Sports Club. Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna, Axar Patel scalped three wickets respectively to restrict the host to just 189 runs in 40.3 overs.
KL Rahul-led India won the toss and opted to bowl first. Top order failed to add anything on the scoreboard as they all got out by scoing some single-digit runs.
Chahar gave the breakthrough by dismissing opener Innocent Kaia who had scored 4 runs off 20 balls. The same bowler scalped the wicket of the other opener Tadiawanashe Marumani. Marumani scored 8 runs off 22 balls with a four before Chahar’s swinging ball got the a thin edge to give Sanju Samson a comfortable catch.
Wesley Madhevere was Chahar’s next victim. Madhevere scored 5 runs off 12 balls. Mohammed Siraj had dismissed Sean Williams who had just opened his innings.
Prasidh Krishna‘s length ball made Sikandar Raza to defend it but it got a thick edge and Shikhar Dhawan at first slip made no mistake. After his wicket, Zimbabwe’s half players were already sent back to the dressing room.
But wicket-keeper batter, who is also Zimbabwe’s captain Regis Chakabva scored 35 runs off 51 balls with four boundaries before Axar Patel ended his valiant knock. The ball came in with the arm around the middle and Chakabva made some room and looed to punch it down the track. He missed it completely and the ball went through to shatter the stumps.
Richard Ngarava scored 34 runs from 42 balls including three fours and a six and Krishna’s yorker length ball sent him back. Brad Evans remained unbeaten and he too contributed a quick 33 runs off 29 balls with three fours and a six to take Zimbabwe’s innings to 189 in 40.3 overs.
