The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Thursday (15 June) confirmed that the 2023 Asia Cup will be hosted in a hybrid model.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Wednesday (19 July) confirmed that the 2023 Asia Cup will be hosted in a hybrid model with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) retaining the hosting rights. After months of debate among the ACC members, it has been finalized that Pakistan will host four out of the 13 matches while the remaining nine games will be held in Sri Lanka. 

The continental showpiece event will kick off on 30 August and will be played till 17 September. A total of six teams will be taking part in the 2023 Asia Cup.

The continental tournament will serve as a preparation for the upcoming ODI World Cup, scheduled to be played in October-November this year.

While fans finally got the full schedule from the Asian Cricket Council, here is everything you need to know about the new edition of the Asia Cup. 

2023 Asia Cup Starting Date

The tournament will kick off on 30 August. The tournament will run till 17 September.

Asia Cup Format

With an ODI World Cup due later this year, the continental tournament will also be played in a One-Day format and there will be three rounds- Group Stage, Super Four, and the Final. The six participating teams will be divided into groups of two where they will play against each other once. The top two teams from both groups will qualify for the Super Four stage. 

The four teams will go against each other in the Super Four stage and the top two teams will qualify for the 2023 Asia Cup Final.

There are a total of six teams participating in this year’s Asia Cup- India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal.

Asia Cup venues

As already stated, the latest edition of the Asia Cup will be held in a hybrid model with Pakistan and Sri Lanka hosting the games.

Star Sports have the broadcasting rights for the 2023 Asia Cup. Hence, all the matches will be broadcast live on Star Sports channels.
