Team India recently got humiliated by the Australian cricket team in the World Test Championship final that concluded on Sunday. And now, another big test for the Indian cricket team lies ahead as they are preparing to take on the challenges of the 2023 ODI World Cup, which will take place in India. The tentative schedule for the ODI World Cup has been released and the final schedule will be released in the next week per reports.

According to the draft schedule released by ESPNcricinfo, the 13th edition of the One Day Cricket World Cup tournament is set to take place from 5th October to 19th November across 12 venues in India. The much-anticipated tournament will open with the rematch of the 2019 World Cup final as the defending World Champions, England, will be taking on the runners-up New Zealand in Ahmedabad.

Furthermore, Team India, led by their opening batter Rohit Sharma, will open their campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. India will be playing against 9 opponents and in 9 different venues. Moreover, the much-expected clash between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan will be played in Ahmedabad on October 15.

The venues for the semi-finals haven’t been announced yet but the World Cup final will be hosted by one of the biggest stadiums in the world, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19.

Team India is set to face nine opponents in the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup. Two of the opponents haven’t been decided yet as the qualifiers are still going on.

This 10-team tournament will follow a round-robin method just like the last edition. All 10 teams will face the remaining 9 teams and the top 4 teams at the end of the league stage will advance to the knock-out stages.

With just 4 months left for the tournament, there has been an unprecedented delay in the release of the schedule. It should be noted that in 2015 and 2019, the schedules were finalized a year in advance.

Last month, BCCI President Jay Shah claimed that the schedule for the 2023 ODI World Cup will be released during the World Test Championship Final but now it is expected to be officially released sometime next week.

Indian cricket fans have been facing heartbreak after heartbreak in ICC tournaments for almost a decade. India lost won an ICC trophy back in 2013 under the successful Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni when they defeated England in the Champions Trophy final.

Indian fans are deprived of an ICC tournament victory and are hoping their team can break the losing streak in the upcoming 50 overs World Cup. Check out the tentative schedule of Team India below.
