Rumors are circulating on social media that India captain Rohit Sharma donated blood to Rishabh Pant after the latter met with an accident. Pant was on his way to visit his hometown in Roorkee but reportedly fell asleep in his car. He failed to control the Mercedes, and it crashed into a divider before turning into a ball of fire on Friday (December 30).

Pant has been given treatment at the Max Hospital in Dehradun where the wicketkeeper-batter was taken to. But he was at first given primary treatment at a nearby hospital from the accident spot.

According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Pant has sustained two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his ankle, and an abrasion on his back. He was shifted from the ICU to a private suite.

As the rumors are spreading on Twitter about Rohit Sharma’s donating blood to Rishabh Pant, Oneindia did a fact check, finding out that wrong information has been circulating on the micro-blogging platform. Those sharing a picture of Rohit on a hospital bed claimed that the 36-year-old met Pant in the hospital in an emergency as the doctors needed a person with the same blood group immediately.

After fact-checking, it was found that the mentioned picture is an old picture, snapped in 2016. Rohit had undergone thigh surgery in London after he sustained it during the final ODI against New Zealand in the same year. Taking to Twitter, he himself shared the image that dated back to November 16, 2016.

His caption read: “All went well. Thank you for your good wishes. Can’t wait to be back at it.” Check the picture below:

Despite all the rumors, looking at the picture, one can even tell that Rohit looks younger. Also, during the time of Pant’s accident, Rohit was in the Maldives with his family. He even shared a couple of pictures on his Instagram. So to conclude, fake rumors are spreading on Twitter and Rohit did not donate blood to Pant.
