Stuart MacGill, former Australian test cricketer, has been charged and arrested over a cocaine deal. In April 2021, he was kidnapped along with 5 people. He was assaulted and then stranded by his kidnappers. In an interview with SEN WA Breakfast, MacGill said his kidnappers had stripped him naked, threatened and beat him up.

When the Police started investigating the case, saw that his kidnapping could be related to a drug deal and after much investigation, the police charged him with one count of knowingly participating in the supply of a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.

Stuart MacGill played 44 Tests and 3 ODIs for Australia. He debuted in 1998, 6 years after the legendary Shane Warne had broken into the Test team. Although MacGill was talented and a quality player, he unfortunately could never start ahead of Shane Warne

After Shane Warne was banned for a year due to his drug use, MacGill played 11 Tests in place of him, and took 53 wickets. During the late stages of his career, he was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. He retired in 2008 from List A and First class cricket. He played in the Big Bash League till 2012.

Stuart MacGill was known to be a wine connoisseur, with him hosting his own show called Uncorked. He had also boycotted an ad shoot for KFC as he believed it was unfair for parents. MacGill’s kidnapping in 2021 shocked the entire cricketing world, but the same tragedy for MacGill got him arrested by the Australian Police.
