Now another former Pakistan player launched an attack on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) under the leadership of Najam Sethi. Ex-Pakistan captain Rashid Latif called out a recent decision by the board taken for the T20I series against Afghanistan.

PCB announced that Pakistan’s regular skipper Babar Azam along with Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, and Fakhar Zaman will be rested for the Afghanistan series. In Babar’s absence, vice-captain Shadab Khan will be leading a young side.

Shadab has proved that he can successfully lead a side after captaining Islamabad United to the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He was Babar’s deputy in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia also.

Rashid Latif blames PCB for destroying Pakistan cricket

Fuming over the decision, Latif blamed PCB for creating a divide-and-rule campaign against the top players.

“Our players are featured in ICC rankings and winning awards after a long time. Babar and Shaheen won ICC awards. They [PCB] couldn’t digest it. They said we won’t let it happen and now we are here and will take decisions.

Those who never took rest and are 70 and 80 years old and need to rest, are now deciding the fate of Pakistan cricket. You can say rest in peace Pakistan team. Our team is now resting in peace,” Latif said as per Cricket Pakistan.

Latif further stated that when new players come, it breaks the team combination. So if these new players perform in Afghanistan, then still PCB will bring back the senior players with lesser strike rates, inviting the media’s pressure. “This is the first step towards destroying the Pakistan team,” he added.

Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Mohammad Hasnain, and Khushdil Shah seem to have been dropped from the side. The series against Afghanistan will start on March 24.
