Since the start of the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, a special light show has been organized in each stadium for the fans. These light shows are performed during the drinks break of the 2nd innings and have had positive reactions from the crowds in the stadium. But now it looks like the players aren’t fans of the program.
Glenn Maxwell had scored a record breaking century against Netherlands and was speaking to the press after the match. He was asked by a reporter about the light show and how it disturbed him. Maxwell revealed that he got headaches due to the light show and it was a terrible thing for cricketers. He said, “Well, I had something like that light show similar happened at Perth Stadium during a Big Bash game and I just felt like it gave me shocking headaches and it takes me a while for my eyes to readjust and I just think it’s the dumbest idea for cricketers when you’ve got this thing coming at you quickly and your eyes take so long to adjust and I think we just lost a wicket and the Perth Stadium lights went nuts.”
He added that he got a headache during the match and his eyes took time to readjust after the light show. Maxwell now covers his eyes every time and ignores it. He agreed that it was great for fans, but a terrible experience for players
David Warner publicly disagrees with Glenn Maxwell, fans joke about a rift between the two
When the news of Glenn Maxwell hating the light shows started getting more viral, Australian opener and Maxwell’s teammate, David Warner, disagreed with him. Warner tweeted, “I absolutely loved the light show, what an atmosphere. It’s all about the fans. Without you all we won’t be able to do what we love.”

After Warner tweeted this, many fans started joking about how Maxwell and Warner are in a rift. Many started saying if they were Indian, the media would have started reporting that there was a major rift between them. Few were not impressed with Warner publicly denouncing his teammates’ views, thinking it was just a way to get Indian fans to love him.
