“If I am thinking about competing with my own teammates, then I am letting my country down”- Sanju Samson on Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul
Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul
Sanju Samson is adored by Indian fans. And whenever the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announce squads for the most important matches without including Samson, fans get quite vexed.
In a recent interview, Samson revealed that his positive mindset made him believe that being competing with his own teammates, that is Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul would mean he is letting his own country down.
“I am fortunate that I have made a comeback after five years, and Indian team was world’s one of the most best cricket teams five years ago and now also it’s No. 1 team. In No. 1 team, to get a place in the 15-member squad, and in the playing XI, our team has that quality. But at the same time you also think about yourself that when you’ll get another chance. But like you said, there should be a right frame of the mind, it’s important to think positive,” said Samson.
“At the same time I…nowadays, we hear a lot on social media about Sanju, who you’ll replace. You’ll replace Rishabh Pant or you’ll replace KL Rahul? But in these subjects, I have to think clearly. I think that KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, both of them play for their own country, so if I am thinking about competing with my own teammates, then I am letting my own country down… I am letting my own India down. So, I always like to think in that positive way that you’ll get a chance, you’ll work and do it for the team,” he added.
