On 18th March, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final was played between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans. In a thrilling match that went till the last over, United won the match, winning their third PSL title. 

The Man of the Match was Imad Wasim, who had taken a fifer in the first innings and scored a match winning 19*.  He picked up the wickets of Yasir Khan, David Willey, Johnson Charles, Khushdil Shah and Chris Jordan, which was also his 2nd T20 fifer. In the 2nd innings, he hit two vital boundaries late in the game as they chased 160.

After bowling his match-winning spell, Wasim returned to the dressing room. As the camera panned to the dressing room, they saw the all-rounder smoking a cigarette. He was also seen holding another cigarette 

Fans give mixed reaction as Imad Wasim is caught smoking 

When Imad Wasim was shown smoking, many fans had mixed reactions to it. Some found it funny, but many slammed him for smoking. People joked how he started to smoke after destroying MS, but many called for action against the all-rounder.

This title is IU’s third title. They won the inaugural season in 2016 and won in 2018 as well. They did make the play-offs four times in the next five seasons, but couldn’t reach the finals. The 2024 PSL was the first time they reached the final since 2018. This is also Multan Sultans’, which is led by Mohammad Rizwan, third time in the final in the past three years, but 2nd time they have lost it.

Imad Wasim has scored 126 runs in 9 innings, including a fifty. He also picked up twelve wickets in the 12 matches he played, averaging 20.91 and an economy of 6.6.
