In the match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, the latter’s bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliant bowling sent Prithvi Shaw back to the dug-out with a bouncer on Saturday, May 21 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Mumbai had won the toss and opted to bowl first. DC openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner walked out to bat but the Australian couldn’t stay at the crease for a long time as a ball from Daniel Sams got rid of the dangerous man. When Prithvi Shaw attemted to play Jasprit Bumrah’s short ball which had angled into the body.

Shaw looked to sway out of the way but the ball was quick. It hit his glove and lobbed towards Ishan Kishan, the wicket keeper, who ran and dived forward and took it.

At the time when this article is written, DC have already lost four wickets and at the crease are DC skipper Rishab Pant and Rovman Powell who are playing for 22 and 20 runs respectively. DC have so far scored 99 runs in 13.4 overs.

How DC can qualify for the playoffs?

Since Delhi Capitals are still in the race to qualify for the playoffs, this match against Mumbai Indians is a must-win for them. DC is battling with Royal Challengers Bangalore for the playoffs spot with the former having the advantage of net run rate. RCB have 16 points and DC have 14 points and if DC win this match, they will qualify for the playoffs because of the NRR. So we can also say, this match is a virtual knockout for the DC.
