Jaydev Unadkat shares heartfelt post following Test comeback after 12 years
Saurashtra pacer Jaydev Unadkat received a Test call-up after 12 years to replace an injured Mohammed Shami (who hurt his shoulder) in the upcoming match against Bangladesh. As the news broke out, the cricketer too wrote a heartfelt tweet to share his gratitude.
“Okay, looks like its real! This one’s for all those who have kept believing & supporting me..I am grateful #267@BCCI,” Unadkat wrote. Check his post below:
The 31-year-old has been sensational with the ball of late. He recently led Saurashtra to Vijay Hazare Trophy this season, claiming 19 wickets. He played an integral part in the squad that won 2019/20 Ranji Trophy title, scalping a record-breaking 67 wickets in that season.
He debuted in the Test team as a teenager in 2010 against South Africa but went wicketless in India’s defeat of an innings and 25 runs. His maiden Test was also his last match for India until his call-up. In List A cricket, he played 116 matches and claimed 168 wickets, while in first-class cricket, he as 353 wickets in just 96 matches.

Also, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made several changes in the squad after regular skipper Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the 1st Test in Chattogram following his left thumb injury. He dislocated his thumb after attempting a catch in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh which ruled him out of the 3rd ODI. He flew back to Mumbai for special consultation after which he was ruled out of the 1st Test.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Abhimanyu Easwaran as Rohit’s replacement. KL Rahul will lead the team and Test veteran Cheteshwar Pujara will be his deputy.
