Since it's inception, many fans have had problems with JioCinema, which is run by Mukesh Ambani's Viacom18.

Just 4 days after India’s loss to Australia in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, India faced Australia in a T20 series. After India’s loss, many fans thought  they would stop watching, but JioCinema still got many viewers. During the first innings, many fans were unable to watch the match, with the screen showing “ Please update app.”

But there weren’t any updates available on the Google play store and Apple app store. Even fans who were watching on the JioCinema website said they were receiving the same message. This isn’t the first time fans have had problems with JioCinema, with the app crashing and buffering during the 2023 IPL numerous times. 

Viacom18, who runs JioCinema, acquired the right to all Indian Cricket Team’s home games. They stream all domestic matches as well. They also have the digital rights for the IPL and also streamed India’s tour of West Indies in 2023. The first match of their contract was the first ODI between India and Australia in September. 

Netizens enraged at JioCinema, miss Disney+Hotstar 

Many fans on X expressed their displeasure at JioCinema. Many were unhappy with the service provided by the app. Even the website users were confused why they had the message despite them not using the app. One netizen stated that despite JioCinema being free, Hotstar was the much better app. Fans also accused the app of inflating overs as the app showed 7 crore viewers at one point.

Electing to bowl first, India started well with Australia being 40-1 in the powerplay. But after a brilliant century by Josh Inglis, Australia posted 208 runs. Mukesh Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, giving only 29 runs. Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi, all went for 40+ runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal started attacking the bowlers from his first ball, scoring 12 off the first over. In the 5th ball after a mix-up, Ruturaj Gaikwad departed for a diamond duck. Ishan Kishan failed to score a run in his first 7 balls, while Jaiswal departed for 21 in 8 balls. The captain, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan are now in the middle for India.
