England’s white-ball wicketkeeper-batter and Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler in a recent interview talked about how he has accepted the criticisms from commentators. He also stated how he is amazed by the fame of Indian cricketers and their ways of dealing with it.

The 32-year-old said as broadcasters pay the commentators to give their opinions on the air, they are not attacking him personally and that is why it doesn’t bother him.

Acceptance is a big part of the job. Accepting that broadcaster pays someone to give their opinion; they are just doing their job. It is not a personal attack on me when they criticize me,” Buttler told Humans of Bombay in an interview.

To prove this, he gave his own example. He said as he watches football, he would sometime criticizes the footballers for their mistakes without realizing it.

The two-time World Cup winner then compared Indian cricket with that football in England.

It is like nothing else, the way Indian players are adored and supported, the level of fame is incredible. Only thing that (I) link it to is football in England. It’s fascinating watching how they deal with it, the media scrutiny. It’s a privilege as well,” Buttler said.

Buttler has been part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) since the 2016 season. He has played 88 matches so far and collected 3075 runs at a strike rate of 149.49; he was the Orange Cap holder of last year’s IPL and played a crucial role in helping RR reach the final. He stands second on the list of leading run-scorers in the history of IPL with 863 runs from 17 matches last year.

This year, the 2022 T20 World Cup winning-skipper scored 244 runs so far from six matches with three half-centuries. He will be next seen in action when RR will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday (April 23) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
