“Someone who got out to me”- Michael Vaughan’s cheeky dig at Wasim Jaffer after former India opener takes up batting coach role for PBKS
Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer
Former India opener Wasim Jaffer was appointed Punjab Kings’ batting coach for the next year’s Indian Premier League. After PBKS announced the news, former England captain Michael Vaughan found another chance to troll Jaffer. Both Jaffer and Vaughan are always involved in pulling each other’s leg on the social media platform over the years.
“The one you had been waiting for, introducing our Batting Coach, Wasim Jaffer! Reply with a meme to welcome the King!,” Punjab Kings posted on Twitter. Vaughan then trolled Jaffer by expressing his shock over the appointment of someone as a batting coach, who got dismissed by Vaughan in the past. “Someone who got out to me is a batting coach !!!!!!!!!!!,” wrote Vaughan on Twitter.

Jaffer is known for his hilarious posts, memes, and witty replies on social media platforms, and doesn’t miss a chance to bring out the funny side of serious matters. During England’s match with India, both Vaughan and Jaffer get involved in hilarious banters.
Meanwhile, PBKS have undergone major changes following their poor show in IPL 2022. The biggest takeaway from the retention and released list before the mini-auction is the release of their captain Mayank Agarwal, as the role is given to Shikhar Dhawan. Not just in the squad, they have done some major changes in the backroom staff as well; Trevor Bayliss was appointed as their head coach, Charl Langelvedt will be the bowling coach, and Brad Haddin is their assistant coach.
Hardik Pandya gives a reply to Michael Vaughan’s India being the most underperforming team remark
Hardik Pandya is slated to lead India in the three-match T20I series in New Zealand and was asked about Michael Vaughan’s remark on India being the most underperforming white-ball team in history. Following India’s defeat to England by 10 wickets in the semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2022, Vaughan slammed the Indian batters for their poor powerplay.
“India are the most underperforming white-ball team in history. I am just staggered by how they play T20 cricket for the talent they have. They have the players, but just do not have the right process in place. They have to go for it. Why do they give the opposition bowlers the first five overs to bed in?” Vaughan wrote in his column for the Daily Telegraph.
When Pandya was asked about the remark on Wednesday, he responded: “Obviously when you don’t do well, people will have their opinion, which we respect. I understand people have different points of view. Being at the international level, I don’t think we need to prove anything to anyone. It’s a sport, you keep trying to get better and eventually when the result is supposed to happen it will happen. There are things we need to work on, going forward we will rectify and work on it.”
