Mohammad Amir was an important player for Pakistan after his ban was over. From 2016 to 2019, the left-arm pacer played all formats but retired from the longest format in 2019. In 2020, he announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020, claiming he wanted to play franchise cricket. 

But now it looks like the 31-year-old might come back to the international circuit. Mohammad Amir announced on X that he wanted to serve his nation at the highest level of the sport once again. He revealed that after discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board, he made the decision.

There has been few positive discussions between myself and the PCB where they respectfully made me feel that I was needed and can still play for Pakistan after discussing with family and we'll wishers I declare that I am available to be considered for upcoming t20WC.

Amir is the 2nd player in the past week to announce his return to international cricket. Imad Wasim recently announced that he was going to make himself available for Pakistan during the 2024 T20 World Cup

Shaheen Afridi opens about possible Mohammad Amir comeback 

Shaheen Afridi played with Mohammad Amir during the start of his career and currently captains him in the ILT20, playing for Desert Vipers. While conducting a Q&A session for fans on X, he revealed he wanted Amir to return to play for Pakistan.

I will talk to Mohammad Amir if he's available to come back for Pakistan once again. Amir and I bowled together after almost 5 years. It was a very good experience to bowl with him, our partnership was great.

In the recent 2024 Pakistan Super League, Amir picked up 10 wickets in 9 matches. His best figure in the tournament was 2/20 in his final match of the season.
