It would not be wrong to call MS Dhoni an IPL legend. The Ranchi-born cricketer, after getting roped in by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the inaugural edition of the tournament has gone on to achieve great heights. Along with winning four IPL trophies with CSK, Dhoni has now also become the most-capped player in IPL history.

As the CSK captain took the field against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 Final on Monday, Dhoni became the most capped player in IPL history. Dhoni made his 250th appearance in IPL and scripted history. In these 250 matches in IPL, Dhoni has achieved quite a few milestones. Let’s have a look at them.

In the 249 matches played prior to the IPL 2023 Final, Dhoni has amassed over 5000 runs. The CSK captain has maintained an average of 39.09 and a strike rate of 135.96. While Dhoni has not scored any century (as he bats in the lower middle order), the CSK skipper has slammed 24 half-centuries.

Out of the 249 IPL matches, Dhoni has represented CSK in 219 games. The 41-year-old has scored 4508 runs in these 219 games. Dhoni has hit 209 sixes while representing CSK in IPL. Along with batting pyrotechnics, Dhoni is more famous for his antics behind the wicket, be it captaincy or wicketkeeping. 

In 219 matches played for CSK, Dhoni has effected 160 dismissals (123 Catches, 34 Stumpings). Overall, MS Dhoni has contributed to 185 dismissals. Now, coming to MS Dhoni’s captaincy, the 41-year-old has led an IPL team on 226 occasions, succeeding on 132 occasions. Dhoni has a win percentage of 58.66. He has also won four IPL titles in total. MS Dhoni also holds the record for most appearances in IPL Final. The CSK skipper has appeared in as many as 10 IPL finals (9 as captain, one as player).
