Rohit Sharma will captain India in the all-important Test series against England starting in India from January 25th in Hyderabad. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 16-man squad for the first two Tests and the Mumbai Indians (MI) took to social media to inform their fanbase about the squad.
Surprisingly, Rohit went missing from the poster while KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shreyas Iyer appeared on it. Notably, all-rounder Hardik Pandya recently pipped Rohit as MI’s captain after moving back to his old franchise, having reportedly set the condition of becoming the captain for the move to happen.
Following the big news, lakhs of MI fans unfollowed the franchise across social media platforms, and some expressed their anger by burning MI merchandise. The fans couldn’t digest how the franchise, which talks about the importance of their ‘One Family’, could do such things to Rohit despite the fact that he led Blue Jersey to five trophies in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
