Gujarat Titans (GT) spearhead Mohammed Shami ran through Delhi Capitals’ (DC) batting order to restrict them to 130/8 in their 20 overs on Tuesday (May 2) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Shami created mayhem from the word go, for he sent Phil Salt into packing on the very first delivery of the innings for a golden duck. A few overs later, Rilee Rossouw followed his teammate owing to Shami’s length delivery. Shami bagged his third when he got rid of Manish Pandey in the fifth over off the first delivery.

Owing to Shami, Delhi found themselves losing five wickets before the powerplay for a mere 23 runs. The fifth wicket was of Priyam Garg and Shami was the reason behind it. Shami wrapped up his full quota of overs with the figures of 4/11 at an economy of 2.75. This became his best figures in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Talking about the ongoing match, DC, despite Shami rocking them with his four scalps, reached 130/8 in their 20 overs. Aman Khan is being given the credit for it and Axar Patel is also.

Aman racked up a 44-ball 51 with three fours and an equal number of sixes. Axar contributed 27 runs from 30 balls.

At the time of writing, GT found themselves fumbling despite the low target. The openers, Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill flopped and Vijay Shankar and David Miller were also sent into packing. However, skipper Hardik Pandya and Abhinav Manohar have undertaken the responsibility to steer the team past the target. Their wickets will turn the table and shift the momentum toward the visitors.
