For the 2023 ODI World Cup, Indian players won’t wear jerseys with the logo of ‘Dream11’ (an online betting platform) written on them. Instead, only ‘INDIA’ will be visible on the front of the jersey which will also have tricolor stripes on each shoulder.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has roped in Dream11 as the official jersey partner to the irritation of the fans. The fans did not like a betting company like Dream11’s involvement as a sponsor.
However, whenever an important tournament takes place, the BCCI removes the company’s logo so that only ‘INDIA’ remains on the jersey. This happened during the World Test Championship (WTC) Final this year and it will happen during the upcoming tournament.
Netizens express joy as BCCI will removes Dream11 from India jersey
Netizens, though many of them like to bet on Dream11 during matches, are happy to see it removed from the jersey for the World Cup. The tricolor stripes have sent through the fans pure joy and they expressed the same in comments.
