PM Narendra Modi meets Commonwealth Games Indian contigent at his home

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Commonwealth Games Indian contigent which also included the women cricket team at his home on Saturday. India ended up winning 61 gold medals at the prestigious sporting event, including 22 gold. Indian women led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur have obtained silver medal while Australia clinched the gold in the Commonwealth Games.
The official Twitter Board of Control of Cricket in India posted the pictures of the Indian athlete meeting PM Modi at his home.

While interacting with the athletes, PM Modi said, “I am happy that all of you have taken time out of your schedule to come to meet me at my residence as members of the family. I, just like all other Indians, feel proud to be talking to you. I welcome you all. This is just the beginning for our Yuva Shakti…the Golden age of Indian sports has just begun! In the past few weeks, nation recorded two major achievements in field of sports. Besides historic performance in CWG, for the first time country hosted Chess Olympiad.”
“The country not only successfully hosted (Chess Olympiad) but continuing its rich tradition in Chess, gave its best performance. I also congratulate all players who participated in those who won medals at the Chess Olympiad,” he added.

Indian women clinched their maiden silver medal in the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham in 2022. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a brave knock of 65 runs while chasing the target but they fell short of just nine runs to Meg Lanning’s Australia.
“It’s quite important to receive motivation from the country’s PM. When PM Modi speaks with us, it feels like the entire country is supporting us & that everybody is appreciating our hard work. It’s a big achievement for our cricket team,” Harmanpreet told ANI.
