“India call up is coming for you”- Prithvi Shaw replies to Jay Shah; Twitteratis can’t keep calm
The 379-run knock has now become the second-highest individual total in the history of the Ranji Trophy.
Jay Shah; Prithvi Shaw
In the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season, Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw whacked 379 off 383 balls on Day 2 to guide his team to a huge total on Wednesday (December 11) against Assam. After remaining not out on 240 the day before, Shaw wasted no time and sprinted toward the three-digit mark in the next day’s session.
“It feels really nice. I could have made that 400. I think I was batting really well but it was just a matter of time as big runs weren’t coming. I thought I should give myself more time out there in the middle, display patience, and the track needed that,” Shaw told PTI after his innings.
He smashed 49 boundaries and four sixes in his epic knock. He couldn’t reach 400 because Riyan Parag him trapped for lbw. The 379-run knock has now become the second-highest individual total in the history of the Ranji Trophy. Bhausaheb Nimbalkar is top of the list with 443* which he scored for Maharashtra against Kathiawar in December 1948.
Shaw and skipper Ajinkya Rahane stitched 401 runs for the third wicket. Rahane contributed 191 runs, and Mumbai declared their innings on 687/4.

Check how Twitter reacted when Jay Shah praised Prithvi Shaw
Following his knock, Twitteratis heaped praise on the 23-year-old, with many wanting the youngster to get picked for the Test side. Even The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah commended him in his tweet.
“Another entry into the record books! What an extraordinary inning @PrithviShaw! Congratulations on hitting the second-highest Ranji Trophy score of all time. A talent with immense potential. Super proud! @BCCIdomestic,” Shah wrote on Twitter.
Shaw replied to the tweet by saying: “Thank you so much @JayShah sir. Your words of encouragement mean a lot. Will keep working hard.”

Shaw has been kept on the sidelines for different reasons. He played his last match for India back in a T20I against Sri Lanka in July 2021. Despite his consistent performance in the domestic circuit, he has always been ignored by the team management.
Because of this reason, some fans did not like Jay Shah’s tweet. Some urged the secretary to keep Shaw in the reckoning for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
