It has not become clear of Ashwin’s availability for the resceduled Test against England, starting July 1 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

“Ashwin hasn’t travelled with the squad to UK as he has tested positive for Covid 19 before departure. But we are hopeful that he will recover well in time before the Test match starts on July 1,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

“However he might miss the practice game against Leicestershire,” the source added.

In the recently concluded five-match T20I series against South Africa, Ashwin wasn’t a part of the squad. That time, he took part in the annual first division games organised by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.
