Ravindra Jadeja reveals what irked him during IPL 2022 in frank conversations with MS Dhoni to clear air of misunderstanding

After Ravindra Jadeja, the star all-rounder of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) joined the camp, his pictures started flooding social media. CSK fans liked the viral video of Jadeja sharing laughter with MS Dhoni at the CSK camp after the former’s arrival.
But a report by the Cricbuzz website revealed that Jadeja did have problems with the Chennai-based franchise. He reportedly walked out of the team hotel during the later stages of last year’s IPL in Mumbai. And after IPL 2022, Jadeja deleted the pictures related to CSK from his social media accounts.
Before the auction for the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) 2023 season, CSK retained Jadeja, which quashed all the rift rumors between him and the franchise. Jadeja even uploaded a picture on his social media where he could be seen bowing down to MS Dhoni to the relief of the CSK fans.
The Cricbuzz report stated that Jadeja had a long and frank chat with Dhoni. And later, the 34-year-old also had a one-on-one session with CEO Kasi Viswanathan to clear the ‘air of misunderstanding’ between them. Jadeja had those conversations with Dhoni and later with Kasi Viswanathan before joining the CSK camp. He even opened up about what upset him.

Ravindra Jadeja revealed what irked him during conversations with the CEO and MS Dhoni
He did not like the way CSK removed him from the captaincy role after the first half of the 2022 IPL. His poor show in the matches also irked him. The Saurashtra cricketer was handed the captaincy job two days before the start of the 15th edition of IPL after Dhoni stepped down from the role, which sent a wave of shock across the Indian cricket fraternity.
CSK under Jadeja had a terrible time. Even the star all-rounder, who is a match-winner for the Yellow brigade, could score just 116 runs at an average of 19 and scalped just five wickets. Dhoni was made the captain after the first half, but still, the four-time champions failed to recover and ended up ninth on the points table with 10 defeats and four wins.
Taking the leadership job again, Dhoni, after the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 1 said: “I think Jadeja knew last season he’d be captaining this year. For the first two games, I oversaw his work and let him be later.
After that, I insisted he’d take his own decisions and responsibilities for them. Once you become captain, it means a lot of demands come in. But it affected his mind as the tasks grew. I think captaincy burdened his prep and performances.“
During the conversation, Jadeja understood that the captaincy was burdening him and affecting his performance also. A CSK official told Cricbuzz that Jadeja is fine and happy to be back with the team and is very keen to do well.
