IPL 2023: Ravindra Jadeja to stay with Chennai Super Kings for next season
Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni
There has been speculation for six months on whether all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will stay with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) or not for the upcoming season. However, it seems like everything is sorted out between the player and the franchise as he is likely to stay in Chennai.
According to a report published by The Times of India, Jadeja will be retained by the Chennai-based franchise, ending months of speculation. He was reportedly unhappy after the franchise took away the captaincy powers midway through IPL 2022 following the team’s poor performance.
Jadeja went on to delete all CSK related posts from his social media accounts, further escalating the tensions. With the deadline (November 15) of submitting the list of retained players approaching, the franchise has decided to hold onto the player. It has been learnt that MS Dhoni played a big role in the decision.
The skipper has made it clear that Jadeja cannot be released as he is a crucial part of the team. Although there has been interest from other franchises, Jadeja’s ability cannot be matched, especially with CSK playing at their home ground next season, where spinners extract a lot from the surface.

Ravindra Jadeja-CSK duo to continue
CSK penned the services of Ravindra Jadeja in 2012 for Rs. 9.8 Crore. Since then, he has become a core member of the group and lifted the IPL title twice, in 2018 and 2021. He has 2502 runs to his name in 210 IPL games. In the process, he also picked up 132 wickets apart from his fielding brilliance.
The four-time cash-rich league champions CSK will be eyeing a strong comeback in the upcoming season. Last season, they finished in ninth position in the points table with just 8 points in 14 games. It will also be interesting to see who will lead the Yellow army in IPL 2023.
