Former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta has made a stunning remark about Chennai Super Kings‘ (CSK) next skipper. CSK’s major problem after the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) will be to find the next captain if MS Dhoni chooses to retire from the league.

The franchise tried to experiment with captaincy when they handed over the duty to team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in IPL 2022. But under Jadeja, CSK had a tough time which saw Dhoni becoming the captain again.

Then after roping in England’s Ben Stokes, CSK might have made him the next skipper but the English all-rounder could play two games due to his knee trouble in IPL 2023. But now, CSK may groom opener Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead the team after Dhoni’s retirement.

Dasgupta, however, thinks quite differently. He thinks CSK would go for Delhi Capitals’ (DC) Rishabh Pant who is expected to make his return next year after recovering from injuries he picked up during the car crash last year.

Don't be surprised if they get Rishabh Pant by IPL 2025. MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant are very close. Obviously, Rishabh admires MS and MS also likes him very him. They spend a lot of time together. Their connection and Rishabh's thinking are very similar, considering he is very attacking and positive. He's always talking about winning and what not.
