The 2023 TATA IPL season for the Rajasthan Royals was nearly in shambles after they lost their MOJO mid-season. They managed to stay at the 5th position on the points table thanks to NRR with 7 wins from 14 matches. The team that was once considered an easy playoffs contender ended up puncturing hopes in the wild playoffs race.

After a wonderful 2022 season, 2023 was a bit of a downgrade. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Yuzvendra Chahal were the star performers for the side in this edition of the IPL while their skipper Sanju Samson and the overseas duo of Jos Buttler and Shimron Hetmyer failed to fire.

With the IPL 2024 season coming up, Rajasthan Royals will look to free up some purse and vacant some slots to accommodate fresh faces.

Players Rajasthan Royals may look to release ahead of IPL 2024 Auction

1. Riyan Parag

The long-term failure of Riyan Parag is a major talking point in the context of Rajasthan Royals. In his seven matches this year, the batter from Assam scored just 78 runs. In his entire IPL career of 54 games, Parag has scored 600 runs. He has failed to impress with the bat for a long while now. He has failed to perform and meet the team management’s long-due expectations. The sensible thing for RR to do would be to finally release him and look for new and fresh talent.

2. Obed McCoy

While McCoy had a decent debut season in the IPL he failed to contribute this year, since he was given just one match to perform in. The Windies bowler is considered to hold many variations and deal with the slog overs but he has not impressed much in the IPL. Rajasthan Royals will look to release McCoy in the upcoming auction.

3. KC Cariappa

KC Cariappa has not played an IPL match since 2019 and in his entire career of just 11 matches, he has managed to pick up only 8 wickets. He does not seem like a fit in the Rajasthan Royals squad and could very well be released in the upcoming auction.

4. Jason Holder

Jason Holder was a no-show in the 2023 IPL season. With just 12 runs and 4 wickets in his 8 matches this season for RR, Holder was a below-average contributor for the side. He was the most expensive bowler in IPL 2023 as he gave away 55 runs in his 4 overs. RR might release the tall Caribbean all-rounder before the 2024 IPL season.
