Saad Tramboo and Hamad Tramboo recently went on Shark Tank India and got a ₹30 Lakh investment for 4% equity in their startup, Tramboo Sports. The startup sold cricket bats made out of Kashmir Willow, and they claimed they made the best Kashmir willow bats, adding they had no competition. The duo then added that their process of making the bats is the reason it is much superior when compared to their local competitors.
Seeing the claims made by the Tramboo brothers, the Cricket Bat Manufacturers Association of Kashmir has sued Tramboo Sports and Sony Pictures. In a statement by the spokesperson, they claimed the show has misled the public and tarnished the image of the local bat manufacturers.

CBMAK have already sent the legal notice to both firms, demanding a compensation of ₹500 crores. They claim the compensation is for the mental agony, damages and losses incurred by the CBMAK and their manufacturers. They have also called out Sony for not properly researching and presenting facts, which misled people.
Bat manufacturing in India
Being the most popular sport in the nation, India has been a hub for cricket bat manufacturing. Bringing the sport into India in the 1800s, North India was a major hub. One of India’s biggest bat manufacturers, Sanspareils Greenlands (SG), is based in Meerut and they produce both Kashmir and English Willow Bats.

With Kashmir Willow cleft banned from being exported, the city is one of the biggest manufacturers of bats. The wood used is a cousin of the English Willow and is used by stars all over the world.
Between the two types of willows, English is much preferred by batter due to it being more lightweight but Kashmir Willow is the cheaper option.
