According to reports, Ravindra Jadeja is likely to stay back with the Chennai Super Kings franchise for the Indian Premier League 2023. For six months after the last IPL, there have been speculations about Jadeja’s transfer to the other team due to a rumored rift between the all-rounder and the franchise.
Following CSK’s poor show in the first half of the cash-rich league in 2022, Jadeja was unceremoniously removed from the captaincy position, which was then given back to MS Dhoni. To the shock of everyone, Dhoni stepped down from captaincy just a couple of days before the start of the tournament, following which Jadeja became the captain. According to a report in The Times of India, Jadeja is likely to stay with CSK.
There has been serious speculation about Jadeja’s spilt with the Yellow franchise. Reportedly, Jadeja did not like his removal from the leadership position midway. The Saurashtra player left the camp following a rib injury and went on to delete all the pictures from his social media accounts that were related to CSK.
However, as the trading deadline is approaching (November 15), according to reports, Dhoni has made it clear to the management to keep Jadeja back in CSK. Dhoni believes in Jadeja’s ability and wouldn’t want another player, especially when the four-time champions will play in their home ground in Chennai. After a gap of three years, IPL will be back with a home-and-away format.
Jadeja has been donning the yellow jersey since IPL 2012. He has even won two trophies with them (in IPL 2018 and 2021). In 210 matches, he has scored 2502 runs and scalped 132 wickets in his IPL career. Apart from CSK, he has represented Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Rajasthan Royals, and Gujarat Lions.
Meanwhile, Jadeja’s injury has kept him out of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. He hasn’t been in touch with his old team for a long time. It will be interesting to see if the 32-year-old will accept staying with CSK.
