“Turned Indian stars from hero to zero”- Twitter reacts India’s wickets fall like pack of cards owing to Shakib Al Hasan’s bowling
Shakib Al Hasan
In the first ODI, India posted a mere 186 against Bangladesh courtesy of Shakib Al Hasan‘s five-wicket haul. The spinner perfectly used the sluggish Dhaka pitch to send five batters packing at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium on Sunday (December 4).
Bangladeshi skipper Litton Das won the toss and decided to field first. Spinner Mehidy Hasan gave the first breakthrough by dismissing opener Shikhar Dhawan in the sixth over. Later, Shakib grabbed his first wicket by sending skipper Rohit Sharma (27 off 31) to the pavilion.
Litton’s spectacular catch dismissed Virat Kohli (nine runs off 15 balls) in Shakib’s over. Kohli was rather stunned by the way Litton caught the ball at the covers. Washington Sundar played an excellent inning against New Zealand but couldn’t produce much in this match as he scored just 19 runs from 43 balls; he was Shakib’s third wicket.
Shahbaz Khan gave away his wicket to Ebadot Hossain in the 34th over for a duck. In the 35th over, Shakib got his fourth wicket by shattering the stumps, sending Shardul Thakur (two off three balls) to the dugout.
Deepak Chahar made a comeback in this match after a long interval. He was Shakib’s fifth wicket that he scalped on the fourth ball of the 35th over.
Only KL Rahul scored the most for India with his half-century knock. He played 70 balls to score 73 runs with five four and four sixes at a strike rate of 104.29 before Ebadot Hossain, in the 40th over, dismissed Rahul. Ebadot banged a short ball, which Rahul tried to pull, but the ball traveled to Anamul Haque at the fine leg.
Owing to Rahul’s knock, India could score just 186 in 41.2 overs. Shakib scalped five wickets, Ebadot got four, and Mehidy Hasan could pick up one wicket for Bangladesh.
