Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz have qualified for the playoffs of the Women’s Premier League. Both teams are playing their last league games on Tuesday (March 21) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. UP posted a decent total of 138/6 on the scoreboard, courtesy of Tahlia McGrath‘s unbeaten 58, her fourth half-century in WPL. If it wasn’t for her knock, UP would have been outclassed by Delhi bowlers.
After winning the toss, DC captain Meg Lanning decided to bowl first. Alyssa Healy and Shweta Sehrawat gave the team a quick start but the latter gave away her wicket to Radha Yadav. Sehrawat scored 19 runs from 12 balls which also included four boundaries.
The next batter to depart was Healy who did not exit the field before scoring 36 runs from 34 balls and with Alice Capsey’s delivery keeper, Tania Bhatia dislodged the bails. UP then started losing wickets at regular intervals. But one person who held on to the crease was their star batter Tahlia McGrath.
She smashed eight boundaries and two sixes to score 58 runs from 32 balls. She also batted at an impressive strike rate of 181.25. Her knock helped the Warriorz to reach 138/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Delhi Capitals also need to chase 139 in 19.5 overs to directly qualify for the final.
