Former India captain Virat Kohli played an unforgettable knock against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022. His unbeaten 82 off 53 is considered, even by the talisman, as the best knock of his career. On Saturday, he shared a post on Twitter, reminiscing about that epic knock, but the post left a section of the fans to wonder if Kohli will soon announce his retirement from T20 cricket.

October 23rd 2022 will always be special in my heart. Never felt energy like that in a cricket game before. What a blessed evening that was,” The 34-year-old wrote on his Twitter. The way he framed the words is enough to spark rumors about his retirement the way MS Dhoni did. Dhoni also posted a video clip on Instagram to announce his retirement on August 15, 2022.

As Men in Blue’s focus has entirely shifted to the upcoming ODI World Cup in 2023, which is set to take place in India, fans are also fearing that senior players like Kohli and Rohit Sharma may retire from the shortest format to concentrate more on the major tournament next year. Currently, Kohli, Rohit, KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Mohammed Shami are given rest. Kohli will return to action in the Test and ODI series against Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, in that mentioned match against Pakistan, India completed 28 runs off last eight balls to steal victory in the last-ball thriller in their campaign opener at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Kohli’s maverick was praised by all the watchers of that masterpiece run-chase, which, down the line, subdued the criticisms he faced owing to his rough patch.

Former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis praised Virat Kohli while discussing his captaincy stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) that he led in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022. Du Plessis said the competitive spirit of Kohli makes him an interesting player on the field and stressed that he will never compete with the Chase Master.

He’s (Virat Kohli) a much bigger alpha (male) than me. You don’t try and compete. The ego is the thing where peacocks generally clash. Then like the feathers come out and you want to see who has got the shiniest in the room. Luckily, I get that about people and relationships,” said the 38-year-old during a podcast on The Grade Cricketer.

I don’t try and outshine someone else in the dressing room. I try and build a relationship. With Virat, that was exactly my point of entry,” du Plessis added.
