“I’m sure the headlines can be much better than this”- Dinesh Karthik slams ECB after they ignore Rishabh Pant’s blistering century
Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant
India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh slammed a ton on Day 1 on Friday, July 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham in the rescheduled fifth Test against England. He unleashed the score at a time when India were staggering at 98/5.
When Rishabh Pant entered the scene and alongside Ravindra Jadeja, he put on a 222-run stand on Day 1 before getting dismissed by Joe Root. Pant had completed his century in just 89 balls. He played a blistering knock of 146 runs off just 111 balls and India finished Day 1 at a strong score of 338/7, while Jadeja remained at the crease on 83.
In the highlights of India vs English, the England and Wales Cricket Board captioned the headline, “Joe Root dismisses dominant Pant.” This caught the eyes of India’s senior wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik.
Karthik took to Twitter to express his opinion on the same. He wrote, “After such an engrossing, enthralling day’s play, I’m sure the headline can be much better and apt than this @ECB_cricket. That knock by @RishabhPant17 land the quality of test cricket played by both sides were as good as it can be and this is how you sum up a day.”

India vs England match so far
Earlier, England had won the toss and opted to bowl because of the weather condition. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah is leading the team in the absence of India’s regular captain Rohit Sharma who was ruled out of the Test after testing Covid-19 positive.
Day 2 started with another ton by Ravindra Jadeja while Jasprit Bumrah played a cameo and smashed a quick 31 runs off just 19 balls. He scored 29 runs in an over off Stuart Broad‘s over, breaking legendary Brian Lara’s 28 runs. Also, Stuart Broad created an unwanted record of most expensive over in Test by conceding 35 runs in an over.
At the end, India scored 416 runs and are leading the Test by 2-1. If they win this Test, then it’ll be a series win on English soil for the first time since 2007.
