Joe Root uses sweat of Jack Leach's bald head to shine ball during Day 3 vs Pakistan
The first Test between Pakistan and England, at one of the flattest tracks, might have ruined the fun of classic Test fans, but a hilarious incident outclassed the insipid moments. Former English skipper Joe Root was spotted using a unique way to shine one side of the ball that helps in the reverse swing. After the end of the 72nd over of Pakistan’s innings, Root used Jack Leach‘s bald head to shine the red ball in Rawalpindi.
The video surfaced online and instantly went viral. After the constant effort to get wickets at the Rawalpindi’s flat track, Root did this before the 73rd. As players can no longer use saliva to shine the ball (banned by the MCC earlier this year), Root perfectly made use of the sweat of Leach’s bald head.

Meanwhile, England are touring Pakistan for the first time since 2005. Ben Stokes-led England have piled up a massive 657 runs in 101 overs courtesy of Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, and Harry Brook‘s tons. They created a new record by scoring 506 runs at the end of Day 1, surpassing Australia’s 494 against South Africa in 1910.
Pakistan have so far scored 298/3 owing to two centuries from Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq. Skipper Babar Azam (28*) and Saud Shakeel (0*) are at the crease (when this article is being written).
Joe Root feeds milk to kitten
England’s Barmy Army posted a video on Twitter where Joe Root can be seen feeding milk to a kitten in the stadium ahead of the Test match against Pakistan. As his teammates were playing with the kitten, Root left his locker room with a tiny bowl in his hands and fed the kitten. The hungry kitten began drinking the milk from the bowl.
“Joe Root loves kitten,” England’s Barmy Army wrote on Twitter. Check the video below:
