Mohammed Siraj, Virat Kohli give a fiery send off to Litton Das on Day 2
On Day 2 of the Chattogram Test between Bangladesh and India, the latter’s pacer Mohammed Siraj, tried for a mind game to get rid of Litton Das who was beaten by the pace. Das responded to the sledging saying he couldn’t hear what the pacer told him. After the heated argument, Siraj had the last laugh when his next delivery sent the batter to the dugout.
Das tried to defend the length ball but it rolled back to shatter the stumps and Siraj did his celebration. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, who was at the slips gestured to the crowd- that had gone silent after Das’ wicket- that he can’t hear them by bringing his hand to his ear. Siraj also emulated Kohli’s celebration.
Watch the video below:
Siraj has scalped three wickets so far in nine overs and conceded 14 runs. Apart from Das, his other victims were the two openers Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan.
India vs Bangladesh match so far
Talking about the match, after India’s early blows in the first innings, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shreyas Iyer steadied the ship with their stand and India looked at a comfortable situation at stumps on Day 1. When the game resumed on Day 2, Iyer who had scored 82 on the previous day, couldn’t complete his ton as Ebadot Hossain dismissed him for 86 runs (that also had 10 fours).
But it didn’t help Bangladesh much as all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav frustrated the bowlers with their partnership. Ashwin scored 58 runs, while Kuldeep scored 40 runs. India were able to put on 404 runs in their first innings.
Right now (at the time when this article is being written), Bangladesh is in a terrible situation, losing five wickets for just 97 runs. Only Litton Das scored the most for his team with his 24-run knock.
At the crease right now are Mushfiqur Rahim and Nurul Hasan batting at 23* and 16*, respectively. Siraj scalped three wickets, Umesh Yadav (who got the opportunity to play in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami) got one, while Kuldeep grabbed two.
