WATCH: MS Dhoni pokes fun at Rajvardhan Hangargekar for his no balls
Notably, Dhoni had issued a warning in a joking manner after CSK's defeat to Gujarat Titans. He had said if the bowlers keep bowling no-balls, they will have to play under a new captain.
Rajvardhan Hangargekar, MS Dhoni
Under-19 World Cup winner Rajvardhan Hangargekar was signed in by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) last year, but he played his first match this season for the Yellow jersey. During a recent promotional event, CSK skipper MS Dhoni seemed to be in a fun mood and poked fun at the young pacer.
In a video shared by CSK’s social media handles, Dhoni pulled the young pacer’s legs. He first made fun of Hangargekar by revealing that the latter took the longest to get ready for the event. “Raj took the longest time to get ready.” Hangarkekar nodded when Dhoni asked him if it was his first event.
Later, Hangargekar made a short speech and said: “As Dhoni said, we can have fun and some laughter in this event, we will try to do that.” Dhoni pulled his legs and said: “Basically he is saying, so one will talk about his no balls.”

Rajvardhan Hangargekar was signed by CSK for INR 1.5 crore
Hangargekar was part of India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning squad in 2022. CSK purchased Hangarkegar in the mega-auction for Rs 1.5 crore. His debut for the four-time champions came against Gujarat Titans, and he also played in CSK’s second match against Lucknow Super Giants.
However, the 20-year-old did not feature in the XI when the team faced arch-rival Mumbai Indians. In the two matches he has played, Hangargekar conceded 60 runs and scalped three wickets with his best being 3/36.
As Deepak Chahar has picked up an injury and will undergo scans, he can miss a few games which means Hangargekar can play for the CSK again. CSK will take on Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday (April 10) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
