Sharma has an incredible World Cup campaign as a batter. He scored 597 runs with one century and 3 half centuries. He always gave India strong starts, with his tournament strike rate being 125.95. There were five instances he missed out on half centuries as well, getting out with just a few runs left.
What does the future hold for Rohit Sharma?
It has been heavily reported that Rohit Sharma’s future will be discussed between him and Ajit Agarkar. He has had an illustrious career, being regarded as one of the best white ball cricketers to grace the game. He was India’s all-format captain for a time, but now it looks like his T20I career is over.
It has been reported that he has told the selection committee to take him in consideration for the T20 Team, while he shifts his focus on the Test team now. The selection committee is also wondering what to do with Sharma’s captaincy in the ODI team, as he would be 40 by the time the 2027 ODI World Cup starts. He could captain the Indian team till the 2025 Champions Trophy, and then retire.
