On day 3 of the Boxing Day Test match, many interesting things occurred. After finishing the 2nd day with 194 runs for 6 wickets, the third day was important for Pakistan. Unfortunately only 70 runs were added with the team being bowled out. With some time left for the end of the morning session, Pakistan bowled 3 overs and picked up the wickets of Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne, with the hosts being 6/2, before lunch was called.

When the  players returned to the field to begin the 2nd session, there was a delay. Many players were left confused but when they found the reason for the delay, they couldn’t stop laughing. Third umpire, Richard Illingworth, couldn’t make it to the third umpire’s room as he got stuck in the lift.

4th umpire, Phil Gillespie, had to sprint from the ground to the third umpire’s room while Illingworth was being removed from the lift. Just a few minutes later, he returned and waved to the camera. He later came into umpire for an over after umpire Joel Wilson left the field for some time.

David Warner plays final Test match in the MCG

The Melbourne Cricket Ground has been a happy hunting ground for David Warner. In 11 Tests, he has scored 912 runs at the iconic ground, averaging 53.29. After being bowled by Mir Hamza just 2 overs into the session, he walked back to the dressing room with the entire crowd applauding him. As he left, he gifted a young fan his batting gloves.

The very next ball, Hamza bowled Travis Head with an inswinger. When the hosts were at 16/4, Mitchell Marsh and Steve Smith had a huge task on their hands. The duo were struggling against the Pakistan bowlers, even getting Marsh to edge one to the slip. Unfortunately, Abdullah Shafique dropped him.

Smith ended up scoring a gritty 50 off 176 balls before being dismissed by Shaheen Afridi.  Marsh ended up scoring 96, before being dismissed by Mir Hamza on the last ball of the day. Australia are now 187/6, with two days left
