The Indian Women locked horns with England in a one-off Test match at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Thursday (December 14). During the match, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur got out in a similar fashion as she got out in the 2023 T20 World Cup semi-final.

In the Test match, before she could cross the crease, her bat stuck on the ground, preventing her movement, which resulted in her run out by wicketkeeper Amy Jones. She missed scoring her fifty, getting out for 49 runs from 81 balls with six fours, and so missed scoring her maiden fifty in her Test career.

However, broadcasters displayed that Harmanpreet scored her half-century, leading to applause from her teammates. But as they got to know the third umpire’s decision, their skipper took a long walk back to the dugout.

Though Harmanpreet missed scoring her half-century, she would be happy with her team’s performance. The Women in Blue posted a record score of 410/7, which also became the highest runs scored on Day 1 of a Test match. They broke England’s record when scored 431/4 in 1935. The reason behind the high score is four half-centuries scored by Shubha Sateesh (69 off 76), Jemimah Rodrigues (68 off 99), Yastika Bhatia (66 off 88), and Deepti Sharma (60* off 95).
