Virat Kohli is in Mumbai right now for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. Ahead of the preparation for the series, he visited the camp of the women’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and gave them a prep talk before their sixth league game, against UP Warriorz, on Wednesday (March 15).

Nothing is going according to plans for Smriti Mandhana and co. because they lost the first five matches on the trot. Only in yesterday’s game that they were involved in a tricky run-chase against UP Warriorz to win the match by five wickets, and clinch their first two points in this Women’s Premier League.

They were languishing at the bottom of the points table consisting of five teams. Yesterday’s game took them a step ahead as they clinched the fourth spot. That match was an important one for them to keep their slim hopes alive in the tournament.

After their win, RCB’s official Twitter handle announced that Virat Kohli visited the camp and gave motivational advice to the players on that day. And today, RCB shared the video on Twitter where Kohli could be seen giving a much-needed stirring speech to revive their hopes.

I’ve been playing IPL for 15 years. And I haven’t won it yet. But that doesn’t stop me from being excited every year. That’s all I can do,” said Kohli. “If we win, great. If we don’t, then I am not going to go to my grave thinking that if only I had won an IPL, I would be a happy man. It doesn’t happen like that.”

And the fact that we haven’t won the IPL, but I still feel that we have the best fans in the world. Only because we were always committed to every game that we played for RCB. That has been the most special thing for our fans.

There’s no guarantee of giving you a cup every year, but there’s a guarantee of giving your 110% every year, and that’s all you can strive to do,” the 34-year-old added.

Kohli has been a part of the RCB franchise since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008 and has captained the side for almost a decade. He, South African great AB de Villiers, and the ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle have given several memorable moments for the fans with their scintillating games. But despite having star-studded names in the squad, RCB are still searching for their first IPL trophy.
