India pacer Arshdeep Singh recently made his Country Cricket debut as the left-arm pacer donned Kent County Cricket Club’s jersey during the club’s match against Surrey on Sunday (11 June). Singh also claimed his maiden wicket when the India pacer trapped Ben Foakes LBW. It was a brilliant delivery from Singh to outfox the Surrey wicketkeeper batter.

Singh claimed another wicket in the first innings and with still two days left in the game, the pacer has a chance to shine for his team. While Arshdeep Singh is enjoying his time in England, the pacer also revealed his inspiration to join the club.

Notably, Singh is among many Indians who have played in the County Championship to hone their skills. The likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj have been the recent names to feature in the English domestic tournament. But Singh’s inspiration goes long back to Rahul Dravid, the current Indian Head coach.

In a video shared by the club on their social media handles, Arshdeep talked about his experience so far playing in the tournament and for Kent. Singh then also revealed how Rahul Dravid pushed him to join this specific club.

“Feeling happy and excited to be here, to be a part of such a great franchise. It is a great county with a rich history as I have been told by people back home. It feels like home. It is just colder than home,” said Arshdeep in the video posted by the club ahead of the match.

“Why Kent? A lot of this goes to Rahul Dravid, he told me about the history of this club and that he represented this club as well. I want to play because of that as well, he has inspired a lot of youngsters back home. This inspired me to join Kent as well,” added the young pacer.
