Former India captain MS Dhoni is adored by Indian fans due to his immense contribution to Indian cricket as well as to the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a captain. His team selection, grooming of the youngsters, fielding tactics, and advice to youngsters have often proved helpful. Interestingly, during the ongoing Wimbledon Championships in London, its official Twitter handle shared a post of Roger Federer with Dhoni link and sent social media fans into a frenzy.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans, out of respect and adulation, call Dhoni the ‘Thala’ which is short for ‘Thalaiva’, meaning a captain or a leader. At Wimbledon, along with the matches, there was much focus on one person who marked his attendance at the All England Club after retirement last September, the eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer.
Wimbledon’s official Twitter handle shared a picture of Federer standing at the Royal Box waving at the fans. But what caught the attention of the cricket fans was the caption Wimbledon used. It wrote: “THALAIVA #Wimbledon“.

This post left the cricket fans in awe and prompted CSK’s official Twitter handle to come up with an epic post. CSK posted a picture of Federer playing at the All England Club but photoshopped the image with Dhoni’s face. The caption of the post read: “What if the lions have a go with the racquet at the Wimbledon?“

MS Dhoni may play in IPL 2024
‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni retired from cricket on August 15, 2020, by announcing it through an Instagram post. This did not stop him from playing in the IPL. Though he is often asked the question of when he will retire from the cash-rich league, he ends up giving a confusing answer.
This year, when it was speculated that the 41-year-old will play his last IPL season, he hinted at a comeback post leading CSK to their fifth IPL trophy. CSK defeated Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans in a rain-interrupted edge-of-the-seat final by five wickets.
