During the conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast, ‘The Ranveer Show’, Yuvraj was asked various questions regarding his personal and professional life. Yuvraj said that he and Dhoni are not close friends because they have very different lifestyles.

Me and Mahi are not close friends. We were friends because of cricket we played together. Mahis' lifestyle was very different from mine, so we were never close friends, we were only friends because of cricket.
Yuvraj said on The Ranveer Show.

He further said:

He is retired, and I'm retired. When we meet, we meet like friends only.

Yuvraj further explained that the teammates don’t need to end up as best friends outside the field. He pointed out that in any team, all the eleven players don’t generally get along with each other, that when on the field, they will leave their ego behind and contribute to the country.

The 2011 World Cup winner then revealed that when he was at the end of his career, he asked Dhoni’s advice and the ex-India skipper was the one who told him before the 2019 ODI World Cup that the selection committee was not looking for him.
