It was only the third match since IPL 2021 resumed and fans already witnessed an epic encounter there. Chasing 186, Kings Punjab failed to 8 runs in the last two overs even when they had 8 wickets in hand. Rajasthan Royals bowled beautifully in the last two overs and won the match by 2 runs in the end.

Punjab Kings bowled well after they restricted Rajasthan Royals to 185 even after they got off to a great start. Their captain, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal gave them a superb start and and added 120 runs for the first wicket.

They were in complete command of the match till the 18th over where things suddenly changed. Punjab Kings required just four runs in the last over but managed only two since they lost Nicolas Pooran and Deepak Hooda one after the other. As a result, they lost the match.

After the game, Rajasthan have climbed to the fifth spot in the points table while Punjab is second-last, managing just six points in their nine games so far.

Fans took quite a lot of dig at Punjab Kings after their poor finish against Rajasthan Royals. Some even compared them to Royal Challengers Bangalore, often known for its ability to choke under pressure.

While trolling, some fans also felt really bad for PBKS skipper, KL Rahul, who once again managed to take the Orange Cap but failed to make his team end on the winning side. Interestingly, he also became the second fastest player to reach 3000 runs in IPL history.

The Twitteratis hailed young Indian bowler, Kartik Tyagi, for showing extreme calmness and composure in the last over. He gave away just two runs and took two important wickets.

Even though Rajasthan won the match, many fans claiming that there were two no-balls in the 19th over of the second innings. While bowling, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman stepped on the side line twice with his back (right) foot. Even though the third umpire didn’t give any no ball, according to rules, both were actually no-balls.

Certainly, if those two no-balls were given, Punjab Kings would have won the match. However, that is not the case now. It will be intriguing to see how Punjab fights back from here. Will they be able to finish inside the top-4?
