Accompanied by his three children- Mackenzie, Jonty, and Adelaide, the 38-year-old Taylor failed to control his emotions during the pre-match rituals when both the sides arrived at the center. After the national anthem, teammate Martin Guptill was seen consoling him. During New Zealand’s batting, Taylor also received a special guard of honor by the Netherlands players. But he couldn’t make a huge score after he was caught on 14 by Logan van Beek.

Ross Taylor has been with the New Zealand team across all formats and has amassed over 15,000 runs. He is one of only four New Zealand players to play 100th test. With 8593 runs and 21 centuries, he holds the nation’s ODI runs record. H was also the first player in the world to play in 100 internationals in all formats.

In December, Taylor had decided to retire from international cricket but will continue to play in domestic cricket.

“Probably the hardest part was coming to the decision. Once the decision was made, it was nice to let it all go. I’ll miss my team mates.” “All you can try and do is make a contribution, enjoy everything for the last time…but not try and dwell on it too much, just try to enjoy the occasion and hopefully make a contribution.” He added.
