After enjoying a roller-coaster ride in the league stage of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have successfully forced themselves into the final of the T20 Championship. The team was considered as the least favorites to make it to the final showdown as they were reeling at the penultimate position halfway through the competition.

When IPL 2021 was suspended due to the Covid-19 scare, the Knight Riders had just two victories to their credit from seven league matches. However, playing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Eoin Morgan-led side caused a massive turnaround as they won five out of seven matches.

With 14 points, KKR finished in the top four due to a better net run rate. The team continued its fine run in the league as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator followed by a victory over Delhi Capitals in the semi-final. Kolkata will now lock horns with Chennai Super Kings in the final to lift their third IPL trophy.

Ahead of the CSK vs KKR clash, Bollywood Superstar and KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan found himself trending on social networking sites. The cricket fanatics dug out an old tweet on the actor where he spoke about his team winning the 2021 edition of the T20 extravaganza.

Back in March, Shah Rukh had hosted a Question and Answer session on his Twitter handle. During the session, a cricket fan asked the actor if KKR will bring the cup home this season. To this, Khan had said that he is hopeful about his team’s victory. Shah Rukh had also taken a funny jibe saying he will start drinking coffee in the T20 cup only.
