The Sharjah Cricket Stadium will play host to some games in the ongoing World T20 Championships that is being played in the Middle East. Sharjah Cricket Stadium has hosted 241 One Day Internationals which is the highest by any stadium. It has hosted 13 T20I matches. Besides this, it has also hosted Indian Premier League games. It started hosting games in 1984 starting from the Asia Cup.

In 2010 the stadium hosted matches for the Afghanistan Cricket team and the Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators used the stadium for the Pakistan Super League. The Inaugural edition of the T10 League was also played in this stadium in 2017. Even the final of the 2018 Blind World Cup was played in this stadium.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium hosted 4 test matches in 2002. Two test matches were played in February 2002 between Pakistan and West Indies and two test matches between Pakistan and Australia in October in the same year. In 2011 the third match of the Pakistan Vs Srilanka test series was held in this stadium.

The stadium’s founder Abdul Rahman Bukhatir played a huge role in organizing some memorable tournaments in Sharjah. The 2004 Intercontinental Cup was also held in this stadium.

Average Score

The average 1st inning total in T20 on this stadium is 149 while the average 2nd inning total in T20 on this stadium is 131. The average 1st inning total in One Day Internationals is 224 while the average 2nd inning total in the 50 over format is 191. The lowest total of 125 was defended by India in the limited-overs format in 1985.

In test matches the average 1st and 2nd innings total on this stadium is 352 while the average 3rd and 4th innings total is 212 and 176 respectively. The highest total in the 50 over format on this stadium is 364 scored by Pakistan against Newzealand while the lowest is 54 scored by India against Srilanka.

The highest total chased in T20 was 140 by Afghanistan against Scotland and the lowest total defended in the shorter format on this ground was 154 by England against Pakistan. The highest total recorded was also by Afghanistan (215/6) against Zimbabwe.

Capacity

The seating capacity of the Sharjah Cricket Stadium is 27000. The stadium has 2 ends, the Pavilion end and the Sharjah Club end. It also boasts of some high-class facilities for other sporting events like the Sheikh Zayed stadium.

Year of establishement

The Sharjah Cricket Stadium was built in the year 1982. It is owned by the Sharjah Cricket Association. The Stadium has had the reputation of hosting some thrilling India Vs Pakistan games.
