‘Believe: What Life and Cricket Taught Me’ – Suresh Raina’s autobiography to release on May 24

India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cricketer Suresh Raina is all set to release his autobiographical book titled, “Believe: What Life and Cricket Taught Me” on the 24th of May. It is published by Penguin Random House India and co-authored with cricket journalist and author Bharat Sundaresan. The book was announced last month but now, the release date has been revealed by Penguin.
The book is said to contain accounts of all the challenges that Raina faced as a young cricketer and how he overcame all of them thanks to his focus, hard work and discipline. It also features Raina’s accounts of some of the greats of the game of cricket like MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and so on.
The book’s synopsis reads as follows, “In this book, Suresh Raina takes you through the challenges he faced as a young cricketer. He was bullied in school and at cricket camps, but he always punched above his weight, overcoming every adversity life threw at him and never giving up. This is the story of the lessons he learnt and the friendships he built.”
‘I always believed in hard work’ – Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina spoke about his book to The Indian Express and said, “I always believed in hard work. 60% is your hard work and 40 per cent is your luck. Look at Yuvraj, he did the same, he worked very hard and came back. Sachin Tendulkar told me very nice thing other day, sab achha hai, you don’t need to prove anyone. You have done so much, you just need enjoy your cricket. I always made with high intensity. I know my chance will come.”
A statement by Penguin which was released about the book read, “Believe, Sachin Tendulkar told him-and he took it to heart, getting the word etched on his arm as a tattoo. In this book, Suresh Raina takes you through the challenges he faced as a young cricketer. He was bullied in school and at cricket camps, but he always punched above his weight, overcoming every adversity life threw at him and never giving up. This is the story of the lessons he learnt and the friendships he built.”
