India’s search for the sixth bowling option in white-ball cricket continues in the ongoing 2021 ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE. Meanwhile, the team’s regular skipper Virat Kohli was seen rolling his arms during the warm-up match against Australia on Wednesday in Dubai.

However, vice-captain Rohit Sharma had earlier announced during the toss that India have rested Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami for this match

Coming to the game, India tried as many as seven bowling options, including Kohli. The 33-year-old bowled a decent spell of 2-0-12-0. On the other hand, ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin emerged as the pick of the bowling unit as picked up the crucial wickets of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh in his economical spell of two overs.

Rohit Sharma has also shed light on the team’s plans for Hardik Pandya’s bowling. The right-hander, who was the stand-in skipper during the warm-up game against the Aussies, said at the coin toss:

“We want to make sure that we get the 6th bowling option, some options in the batting order as well, we’ll try all those things today. Hardik is coming along pretty well, but it’ll be a while before he will start to bowl. He hasn’t started bowling, but he should be ready by the start of the tournament. We have quality in the main bowlers, but you need an option for a 6th bowler.”
