Tom Moody likely to replace Ravi Shastri as India’s head coach after T20 World Cup – Reports

Tom Moody
The 2021 ICC T20 World Cup is set to be the last assignment of Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Meanwhile, a recent report claims that former Australian all-rounder and the current Director of Cricket for the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Tom Moody is eyeing to take over this role.
As per a recent report in Fox Sports, the owners of the Hyderabad-based franchise are ‘influential figures’ in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It further suggested that Moody and the rest of the team management leave David Warner out of the SRH’s playing XI in IPL 2021 and give the young Indian players an opportunity.
Here are some excerpts from this story:
“It’s understood by foxsports.com.au the former World Cup-winner and well-travelled coach is eyeing the Indian coaching job, which is set to be vacated by Shastri following the impending T20 World Cup. Moody, who after a long stint as head coach of the Sunrisers, where together with Warner as his captain led them to glory in 2016, was replaced by former England coach Trevor Bayliss but later named as the franchise’s director of cricket.
“It’s believed the Sunrisers’ owners are influential figures in the BCCI, which could explain the decision to leave Warner out for their past half-a-dozen matches and turn to youth,’’ the report read.
“Warner has been approached by many IPL franchises”

The shocking report went on to claim that the Australian opener has been contacted by various IPL franchises ahead of the 15th edition of the cash-rich league.
“Warner, too, has been approached by a number of other IPL franchises, who have been shocked by the run-scoring machine being sidelined.’’
Notably, David Warner got a couple of chances in the second phase of IPL 2021. However, his paltry scores of 0 and 2 resulted in an exit for the southpaw.
