WATCH: Ryan Burl grabs stunner to dismiss Rishabh Pant at the T20 World Cup
Young wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant was finally given a game at the ongoing T20 World Cup on Sunday (November 6) in India’s last Super 12 game against Zimbabwe. The Indian team decided to drop Dinesh Karthik after a series of poor performances with the bat.
However, the game didn’t go well even for Pant as he was dismissed for just 3 off 5 deliveries. Though he would consider himself a bit unlucky as Zimbabwean Ryan Burl took an extraordinary catch. The incident happened in the 14th over when Pant tried to send Sean Williams’ delivery into the gap for a boundary.
But Burl, who was fielding at the long on, ran and took a sensational catch, diving to his left. The catch is one of the best catches of the tournament. The video of the catch is doing rounds on the internet and Burl is receiving praise from all corners of the world for his fielding brilliance.
Rishabh Pant or Dinesh Karthik for knockout?
Rohit Sharma’s side would have hoped for a change when they brought Rishabh Pant into the XI. They preferred Dinesh Karthik from day one but the veteran cricketer failed to utilize the opportunity in his favor. He managed to score only 14 runs in four games.
The external pressure kept on mounting on the Men in Blue to bring in the young talented Pant, who has great numbers on Australian pitches. In addition to that, Pant is a lefty, which would provide a different dimension in the middle of the right-handed dominating batting order.
